Ritas Cantina Price: Menu: Dutch-Indonesian food You can find Rita’s Cantina at the end of the boulevard that runs alongside San Antonio marina. The owner, Rita, started the restaurant many years ago and moved to this prime location a few years back. It is a beautiful building with high ceilings, the interior decorated with wood and a fantastic painting of a Cuban woman with a cigar. Rita is a handsome blonde woman who is happy to tell you how the restaurant got started and became so popular at a time when Internet and social media advertising did not exist. You had to have word-of mouth-recommendations. Before we begin the interview, she wants to double-check that we are not something new and short-lived, or, as she calls them, “Nine-day wonders who have been living on Ibiza for a year and haven’t learned Spanish”. Now that we have “One Villas Ibiza”, of course not! “I don’t like TripAdvisor, either. Not because they can finish you, but because they can overdo the praise. Then the visitors’ expectations are much too high. They expect nouvelle cuisine Asian food, but here you get bami or nasi like your mother would make at home in Holland.” Besides nasi goreng (€ 8,50) and bami goreng with saté, peanut sauce and kroepoek (€ 8,50), Shoarma (€ 5,50), Tiki Masala wrap (€ 6,00) or the Thai soup Tom Kha Kai (€ 5,00). But also homemade apple pie with cream (€ 3,50) and crepe with ice cream and fruit (€ 4,75) are also on the menu. At the former location on the same boulevard where Rita’s Cantina started, her daughter Merel now also has a restaurant, Es Petit.
